Deuteronomy 34:10 Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
10 No prophet has arisen again in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face.
This verses does not make sense to me.
It was written shortly after Moses died.
In the same book, Deuteronomy 18, it says:
15 “The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own brothers. You must listen to him.
Some commentators say no prophet like Moses has arisen again at the time Deuteronomy 34:10 was written. If it had been written shortly after Moses died this would eliminate all prophets, but Deuteronomy 18 mentioned a prophet like Moses being raised up among the Israelites.
The only solution I can come up with that would make sense if that Deuteronomy 34:10 had to have been written well after Moses died which would lead me to believe the verse was added at a much later date.
Is there anyway to determine when Deuteronomy 34:10 was written?
Thanks.
