The Apostle Paul would probably disagree along with some other biblical authors/figures. He said it's better to be single.
I disagree that such is what is necessarily being said. Rather, each person has different gifts and blessings from God. I'm sure one passage you have in mind if 1 Cor 7, but don't overlook this important verse (v.7) when reading:
  • I wish that all of you were as I am. But each of you has your own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.
Clearly, Paul's gift lay elsewhere in ministry than married life. Logically, having less commitments Paul could dedicate himself more fully in other ways, because he had less familial responsibilities - no fatherly commitments, no husbandly commitments.

Yet, for many Christians who have been gifted with married life and children -- such is a primary God-given mission. And, it is a very important God-given mission which is sadly often considered unimportant and neglected by Christians who are always looking for some other purpose God might have for their life. Meanwhile, what God has given them to serve Him in is right before them and in plain sight yet many remain blinded to.
"Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:13)

K, when I talk to my boys about possibly being married someday, I always emphasize a few things: A) Don't EVER date a non-Christian - and don't delude yourself into thinking, "Well, I'll be a good influence and she might come to Christ through me" (DON'T DO IT!!!). B) If you want to find prospective fish (a Christian to marry), don't fish in your bathtub! (i.e. the wrong places) - go where the fish are, put yourself in proximity to where they hang out. C) Find a good woman early (but don't marry before finishing school, if possible) - it gets much harder to find good prospects when you get closer to 30. If I had followed this advice, I would have saved myself one heck of a lot of misery!

I read 'sleep' instead of 'sheep'...

Yes. When my wife turned 44, I traded her in for two 22 year olds.

All New Zealand jokes have something to do with sheep. I'm not quite sure why. y:-?
