Re: John Wesley's theology

It is absolutely incredible to me that anyone believes that the free will which God has so mercifully and gracefully given us, that using it by simply being RECEPTIVE to and subsequently embracing God's free gift of salvation, saves anyone - although it is the door through which ALL must walk to re...

Thanks Bart. I appreciate your reply, and I'll take a good look at the link. I like Frank.

Re: Molinism discussion

What the liberty of the will is has been defined by Craig as …”the liberty and contingency of the creaturely will, so that God is not the author of sin,” This is simply inadequate. Has Craig demonstrated God’s sovereignty over all events is a restriction on man’s liberty? Has he then gone on to dem...

Re: Arrogant atheist

i stumbled across this forum and saw the bashing of atheism or those who do not fully subscribe to Christianity. Well you said you wanted one to come and reply, here i am. im going to post a quote of myself from a conversation i recently had and then i will address each individual in the forum, her...

Re: Molinism discussion

Craig, I think is using molinsim to look into what comes first, and from what I read, I think his view is that they act together - you can’t have one without the other: You can’t predestine without foreknowing nor can you foreknow without predestining… The use of the term Middle Knowledge helps exp...

Re: Molinism discussion

I could elaborate further, but I'm not sure how Molinism can resolve this issue in your eyes. If God merely foreknew (to use the term in an unbiblical manner again) that Hitler will kill 6 million Jews given particular conditions, and yet sovereignly put him in those very conditions, how is He vind...

Re: John Wesley's theology

Danny, the point I'm trying, and failing to make, is that once one considers himself a Calvinist, arminianist, lutheranist, Methodist, etc., then one must interpret scripture by the light of the doctrine one holds to. I'm saying that one who believes in TULIP, must take scripture, then filter it th...

My source has it differently, bro. Is my quote the quote you are referring to?

Re: John Wesley's theology

Scripture is written in larger components than verses (which are man made contrivances anyway). Scripture has it's own logic, structure and progression that it builds and presents within itself and frankly, you lose a tremendous amount of it when you pull verses out and play with them independently...

Re: John Wesley's theology

I'm going to work on starting this thread all over again (remember Wesley?), with less hyperbole this time from yours truly.

What are the odds that it turns into a Calvinist-bashing thread within, oh I don't know, a couple of posts?

I won't let it - I won't I won't I won't y[-(

Re: Reformed Theology Discussion

Bart, I'm smiling too, and love you equally as any brother in Christ. And I'm sorry for being so bullish. I've given up trying to change that particular trait. Are you sure you do not mean 3.23.7? 7. Objection, that God did not decree that Adam should perish by his fall, refuted by a variety of reas...

Re: John Wesley's theology

Byblos, just because there's no scripture quoted, that doesn't mean it's nothing more than appeal to emotions. This post by Philip, seems to me , to be an appeal to look at how each of us views God's character, or His nature. And scripture has been used to argue against Calvinism, as a whole. The s...

Re: Reformed Theology Discussion

If you'll note the thread title, it says Reformed Theology Discussion, not discussing DannyM's understanding and personal reconciliation of Reformed Theology to the exclusion of all other reformed positions. ;) Still think you’ve got me figured out, don’t you? What am I trying to reconcile, Bart? S...
