Re: Why can`t I hear God?
Okay, I definitely believe in God and accept Jesus as my Saviour but I do have doubts, tears and a lot of questions. The thing I`m wrestling with at the moment is although I am totally convinced in my faith I don`t seem to be hearing God. I talk to Him all the time but I can`t hear Him! Maybe I jus...

Re: Books ( or anything else) that changed our lives
Ellen White has some good materials. She also has some that in my opinion are a bit off the wall.
The issue I have with how some Seventh Day Adventists use her material is that she's treated as if she's scripture itself.

Re: Prayers
Jlay, Reading through that letter (which I did in full and carefully) was painful and at the same time I was also proud of you and your willingness to speak out. I'm glad my past writings were a little helpful to you and had no idea the depth of what you were addressing in your own life and ministry...

Re: Romans 13?
Keep in mind that at the time of the writing of Romans, Paul was writing to Jewish Believers living in Rome who were actively being persecuted by the Roman government for their faith in Christ. Paul himself came to Rome in his own experience and tradition says he was beheaded there as a martyr to hi...

Re: The bible copying older religious themes.
Correlation is not necessarily causation. When there are similar themes within different cultures while it is possible that one has fed the other, it is also possible that both are rooted in a common denominator that goes back beyond both of them. The presumption that one culture grew in a vacuum an...

Increasing Demand in Homeschooling for Scientific Curriculum
A recent article in The Atlantic that deals with evangelical homeschooling and the demand for curriculum that takes science more seriously than many popular providers have been providing. http://www.theatlantic.com/national/archive/2013/03/old-earth-young-minds-evangelical-homeschoolers-embrace-evol...

Re: Sin of Thought?
The literary form of what Jesus was speaking of in Matthew is called "hyperbole." It was very common in Jewish teaching and it involves taking something to its extreme to illustrate the absurdity of some of the legalistic constructs that are built upon it. This is the same type of thing th...

Re: Being a light
We were saved by grace outside of our performance, why would we believe that that changes when we enter into active relationship with God? Gal 3:1 You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. 2 I would like to learn just one thi...

Paul, I agree with your assessment on Kruger. He's one of my favorite authors as of late. Another one, who is a lesser know student of Torrance (and a classmate of Kruger's in Doctoral studies) is Gary Dedo. He has a guide here on issues commonly cited in The Shack that I think is a worthwhile read ...

Re: Books ( or anything else) that changed our lives
And Jlay, I recall that conversation way back and I think we did get somewhat heated. I won't retrace it either as I'm fine with others' having their own opinion and I don't need to defend that my opinion is different other than to state that it is and accept that you're entitled to yours. I think T...

Re: Books ( or anything else) that changed our lives
The Shack had a strong impact on me as well and I think I probably ticked a few people off here for liking and promoting it here on the board. ;) If anyone liked The Shack I would recommend, He Loves Me, by Wayne Jacobson who was one of the editors/co-authors of The Shack. A good book to examine the...
